Overview

NYPA can leverage various resources to help chart your organization’s path toward decarbonization

NYPA can develop comprehensive Clean Energy Master Plans and Decarbonization plans designed to meet your unique goals. We look first to reduce the total energy consumption in your facility by implementing Energy Efficiency projects. Once you have reduced the total energy usage, we will identify carbon-based sources of energy to replace with carbon-free sources through electrification.

NYPA will evaluate factors such as the lifecycle of your existing equipment, carbon intensity, and cost of new equipment when determining the best solution for your decarbonization goals.

NYPA manages every step from site audits through to contracting, installation and maintenance. NYPA’s electrification services include thermal networks, geothermal water-based systems, as well as chiller, boiler, and domestic hot water electrification through air source and water source heat pumps. NYPA is continually evaluating new products and technologies that will help our customers, and the state meet the various challenges of electrification.

NYPA can also help you identify other strategies to decarbonize including installing Distributed Energy Resources (DERs) and fleet electrification. We know energy and we know New York. We are up-to-date on clean energy incentives, Executive Orders, and local laws, and can help you meet your decarbonization goals.

Case Study
NYCHA Heat Pumps
Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the state is moving forward with its Clean Heat for All Challenge (#CleanHeat4All or #CH4A), a partnership between the New York Power Authority (NYPA), New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA) to develop a new electrification product that can better serve the heating and cooling needs of existing multifamily buildings and hasten the transition to fossil-fuel free heating sources. Cold climate packaged window heat pump units will be installed at NYCHA apartments to provide heating and cooling while reducing greenhouse gas emissions at New York City public housing. The units will be comprehensively monitored and assessed to incorporate learnings before moving forward with the widespread installation of 30,000 units over the following years.
